hmmm, the xl might already be!! seems to me(could be wrong) that the xr was the off road version and the xl was the d/p, in any event, its not hard to convert them. the charging system on those 4 strokes were pretty strong. no prob to run head,tail, and blinkers on them!! actually here's a definate answer. the xl500 is a d/p bike...
The 500 XL Honda is a street legal MC, I had an 1982 and should have never sold it.

The guy called this one a xl500s. Its cheap 750 bucks and runs, and looks pretty good.
Bad thing is I keep calling there and getting the damn answering machine!
We used to have a XL500. Street legal, heavy pig off road, lot's of grunt, but don't get her hot and stall her in a bog. Try kick starting that thing with wet, muddy boots and a hot engine... no fun. I miss the old girl though, fun for street driving.
Thanks for the heads up, I usually try to make it though there wasn`t a lot of interest for me, just the latest & greatest which means big $$$$.
