fuel pump ?????????
Hello out there in ford truck land!I have a problem with my f250 my back tank on my truck after for about 45mins my back pump acts like it,s out of gas when there is plenty.Have been told by ford that they replaced both pumps on both tanks.The problem is as i have said only the rear pump acts this way.I can switch to the front tank and everything is great switch to the rear and it acts like i,m out of gas ,and yes i have changed the filter.Any ideas?? I hope that someone else has had this problem and fixed it .Thanks 4 all your help into this matter.

Does it run on the rear pump if you switch back after a few minutes on the front? Sounds like your pump is either bad and dieing out for some reason...or it's picking up some crud inside the tank that's causing it to stop pumping. Older tanks can get that way. Lots of info on the site about tank problems.....but I haven't read any like this. Do a search for "fuel pump"......might find something else.

Sounds like you have a bad gas cap on the rear tank. Try swapping fuel caps from one tank to the other and see if the problem moves. This would be from a plugged up cap vent not letting air into the tank.

I agree with subford (bad venting) i had the same problem happin with my truck and i replaced the cap and all was good!
