Swap engine from Aerostar to Explorer
I've got a 91 Aerostar XLT 4X4 with a 4.0 litre motor. The motor only has 140,000 km on it and works great. However, the rest of the Aerostar is good for scrap. The frame is just about to break. I may buy a 94 Explorer XLT 4X4 that the owner says has a bad knock in the motor even though it only has 155,000 km on it. Is a swap possible? Is it easy?
What parts from the Aerostar would be good to keep when I need to repair the Explorer? How about the front bearings which cost a fortune? Starter? Differential? Electric motors for the windows? Fuel pump? Rear heating? Captain's seats?
The Aerostar has almost new : brakes all around, calipers, disks, front suspension, shocks, steering. Any of these parts useful for the Explorer?
This is a rather urgent request because I'm "on foot" until I buy something.
