help.... possible buying of 05!
I currently own a early 99 CC, PSD. I have the opportunity to buy a 05 CC, PSD. It is a Lariat 4x4 with all the option I can think of other than the cab marker lights! Just want some helpful tips about what to look for, any threads that come to mind i should read. Did Ford have all the bugs worked out of these trucks by 05? truck has 26k miles!

I've been told the late '05s are better than the early'05s(Why?). Mine is early(Feb) with no major troubles. Get an Oasis report for it before buying. I'd look for modifications that may have voided the remaining warranty. These are really nice trucks. If you're on a shoestring budget after purchasing(like me) a muffler delete is a reasonably priced modification(pics in my gallery) that makes driving fun, and improves mileage. If it has the 18" wheels, your replacement tire choices are a little limited if you stay with the stock rims but want bigger tires.

You should be fine with the 05. I'd consider Feb to be a middle to late 05 considering. With 26K miles you still have plenty of warranty left to solve any problems/glitches that come up plus 100k warranty on the motor. Crawl under and check for the infamous bellhousing drip, see if there are any white spots under the hood around the degas (overflow) bottle to indicate blowing coolant. Check the hood blanket if it has one--it stains and is a telltale sign. Get the VIN# and have one of our good tech's here run it through the OASIS to see if it has had any warranty work done on it previously.

I've got an 05 and have no major issues.
One reason for the known coolant puking is because the levels indicated on the degas bottle was actually overfilling it, causing it to overflow.
The fix was to remove coolant and bring it to a lower lever. Check to see if they put a sticker on the bottle to indicate the new level.

I agree with other posters. My 05 was built in Sept 04. 35,000 miles. No major problems, have had all recall flashes and they worked well. Do an Oasis and if possible talk to previous owner if it is not a private sale.
One other thing, dont skimp on oil and filter changes if you buy it.
Have fun with it.
