What mechanisms/Fuses/ETC control the Brake Shift Interlock?

Hello,

I am having a problem with shifting out of park on my 2004 SCrew Lariat and am wondering what all the control mechanisms are for the Brake Shift Interlock (BSI) mechanism?

I cannot seem to find a switch or cable connected to the brake which would send a signal to the Shifter to allow shifting out of park.

I had to take the console cover off per book instructions and depress the manual override to get it out of park.

I would rather fix this my self if it is an easy fix as I cannot really afford to take it to the dealer right now. Please advise.

My brake lights work, however, I have seen that this can still be a fuse or a blown stop lamp circuit when this happens?

Thank you.

The signal.
The Brake pedal switch gets its power from F14 (10A third fuse in from the left just below the lower block of 3 large relays) a LB/PK wire. This wire goes into the brake pedal solely for the shift interlock and not the brake lights, that’s the LG/RD wire. Leaves the pedal on the PK/LG, hits an inline connector around the driver side A Pillar, then hits another on the way to the center console and finally connects to the shift interlock.

The power.
It gets it’s power from F15 (5A just right of the previous fuse) along a RD/YE wire that just about runs a direct course to the interlock splitting off along the way to power some other things.

The Ground.
Just one, black, and it grounds right next to the fuse box.

Something I noticed was that even if your brake switch is activating the brake lights, it’s a different switch inside of it that’s running the shift interlock and it may not be functioning.
