TRANNY SWAP 86 EB
FIRST I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL WHO REPLIED TO MY LAST PROBLEM. YOU WERE ALL A GREAT HELP AND YOUR INFO HELPED ME GET MY TRUCK UP AND RUNNING AGAIN.
I HAVE A 1986 EDDIE BAUER BRONCO WITH A 351 HO 4 BBL AND A C6 TRANNY. I WANT TO KNOW IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME IF I CAN DROP AN AOD FROM AN 85 BRONCO IN WITH OUT TO MUCH MODIFICATION?
THANKS.

It depends. The 86 AOD has what is called a TV cable. This cable is what controls the OD on the tranny it hooks to the throttle body where the throttle cable is. On my 84 F100 w/302 AOD it had a metal linkage that looked like the kick-down linkage on a C-6 or C-4. It is not a kick-down linkage though and has to be adjusted totally different than a kick-down. You might have trouble with the transfer case too depending on the out-put shaft. Other than these my only concern would be what type of hook up you have on a 85 AOD. Other than this everything should go together without too much trouble. Your selector in the truck will be off though I believe the c-6 selector has D-2-1 and the AOD has OD-D-1. Hope this helps and Good Luck,
Rick
