Question Where to put resonator - in front of or behind muffler?

I have a MAC Flowpath muffler that has an irritating drone at about 1800 rpm. I plan to use a 12" IMCO muffler (single chamber) along with the MAC in hopes that will stop the droning. (Vehicle is a Bronco 351M single exhaust.)

My question; is it better to install the resonator muffler in front of, or behind the main muffler? Or does it matter?

Thanks,
TLR

Are you using an IMCO extreme muffler as a resonator? Your best bet is to just swap out to a 2 chamber IMCO muffler.

Thanks for the reply, WC. It turns out I didn't have a choice anyway; the IMCO wouldn't fit behind the muffler because of driveshaft interference. I had to install it in front. Yes it's an IMCO Extreme single chamber.

So far so good. No resonance in lower rpm ranges, haven't had it at highway speeds yet......
