I've never seen one with much if anything in it. Is there a reason you need to clean it?

I cleaned mine out with shop towels. There wasnt much in there, and a lot of the mess came from doing the harpoon. The diesel let inside worked well as a cleaning agent. Make sure someone with long skinny arms is around to help, lol.

I did the hutch and harpoon mod at 55K. Only a little dirt in the filters is all. Tank was clean.

Biodiesel will help clean out any gunk in your system, just beware that some of that gunk may be helping you to avoid some leaks! I think it was KWIK that mentioned his 450's tank was all shiny inside because of him using the bio. (450's apparently get steel tanks, not the plastic ones put in 350s & 250s) If you do wipe it out I'd do these things:

1) don't use any extra solvents - use the leftover diesel as a cleaning agent - odd chemicals in your fuel system my do odd things (that could get expensive...)
2) use towels that are as lint free as possible - it'll help your filters last longer (and be less frustrating when you try to wipe away the fuzz... )

I used a hot knife to cut the vents so there was no debris in the tank. I dumped out the diesel and reused it when I was done. Because I did introduce dust into the tank from my hands and all that, I cleaned it out with gasoline. A little gas and a good swishing around and dump it. Pour diesel in.

What i did when i cleaned my tank was just kept filling it with water and dumping it off. Then when i was done, i just got all the water i could out and wiped it with a clean white towel. Let it sit for an hour, just because im crazy, then installed. No water in fuel light.

Im gonna be getting around to scraping off the frame rail to spray some black primer on it. Im gonna use an etching primer so maybe now it wont rust anymore. It looks like crap now because you can easily see it on my truck.
