an ohm meter is your best friend at this point. you need to get an ohm meter and test each injector
the velve cover harness will have 5 pin each connector.
so it looks like this
1 2 3 4 5
- - - - -
pins 1 and 5 are glow plugs they should be around 2 ohms if they are good. if they are over that either the harness or plug is bad. this will not be related to you running bad unless on plug melted and took the other pins out.
pins 2 and 4 are the low side injector wires. one going to each of the two injectors that plug connects to.
pin 3 is the high side wire that is common to both injectors.
to tes the injectors/harness place the ohm meter on 2 and 3 , then on 3 and 4. the readings should be around 3 ohms. up to 5 ohm is ok. anything more and you ahve injector/harness issues
Since all four seem to be not firing it could easily be the IDM has gone bad

yes any IDM will work from 94.5 to 03 van and pickup. there are three different one with 3 different voltages but they will interchange with really no issue. I would not want to put a 95 IDM into a superduty though. its kind of a step back in performance. but for testing purposes it will work fine. But in your case you can't go backwards so any one will do.

used you can get them for around $200 if you keep your eyes peeled on ebay. New I think they are $350 or so. Never had to buy one wo I am not sure what they run. I was looking for a spare on ebay a while back but they never went cheap. Just search IDM on ebay. many times people list them as a PCM or ECM also but they are not and those usually go cheaper since people don't really know what they are looking at.
