Exclamation Truck Trend is reporting the 6.2l V-8 is off again..Say it isn't so!!

The March/April 2007 Truck Trend is reporting that the 6.2l Hurricane/Boss is off again for the F150's but will be aimed at the Mustang instead. If there is anyone out there with any "inside" information, please tell me Ford is just playing possum and they are not shelving this for the F150!!! We need this engine in the F150's now more than ever, I feel if they don't put this in the F150's Ford will be making a HUGE MISTAKE.........Thoughts/info...............

we'll see...take everything you hear with a grain of salt....we'll see what happens in mid 08 when they start talking about whats going to be new and improved....lots of opinions between now and then....

me personally i think a diesel will happen and a 6 speed auto....hopefully the 6.2 L gas engin also and i hope they do something to ge a little mpg also....

guy i work with has a 5.3 L chebby and he gets 16 to 17 around town and 20 on the highway...

Smile

Found it at Walmart in Fargo, ND it has a new red Chevy and a blue Toyoya on the front cover. These are always a few months ahead.

The mold line for casting 6.2l boss block starts setup next week as 3.0 v-6 line for Ranger and the old Taurus shuts down too make way. This is an iron block and for support of F series. Do not know where anyone gets any info from these days. But in Cleveland people are busy getting ready for casting the new block for the BOSS engine.

Question

f460 that is great news! You seem like you are definately in the, "know" on this issue. Is there anything else you can tell us, do you or any of your friends work at the engine plant??

Mind if I modify this a little bit?

If ford does not make this engine and put it in the F150 then they're dead in the water!

I'll ask the question everyone wants to know:

Is Ford putting this enigne in the F150 or not?

Well I would say that since Ford has told the factories that are to build this thing that it is being built as the Boss engine and production will start to support launch of the new P415 or whatever is the code for the new F150, THAT YOU WOULD BE CORRECT in saying it will be available in the new F150.
I just do not know where a lot of this stuff one reads comes from. I guess just lots of rumors and people who seem too enjoy dis-information.

that is what i was wondering...me personally i just dont get why people complain so much about the 5.4...yeah its a little weak (if im pleased with it in my 250 im sure i would be extremely happy with it in a 150) but its an extremely solid motor...lets say the 6.2 does surface and it has problems...like alot of new motors do...then lets see who will be saying they wish they had their gutless 5.4 back im not sure how long they have been around in the 1/2 ton trucks but the 3/4 and 1 ton the triton had been around since as long as ford has gone through 3 diesels now...its a solid motor...i hope they add hp and some torque...throw in the diesel that is already proven from the land rover and keep building depenable proven trucks and not jump on the band wagon with all these other TOYS and FAKE TRUCKS...im sorry for bi*ching like a woman but trucks arent even trucks no more, they are status symbols...and i think ford needs to keep up with the "working mans truck" mentality and now go along with whats "in"...dont get me wrong, they are going to have to add things to keep up with the ages but my dads 04 350 is definatley put together better than my 06...may not look as "pretty" but its not as cheap feeling....my buddies 05 150 (no offense to you 150 owners) seems very cheapy assembled...as for my 06 its rattles and squeks everywhere...i feel auto makers are taknig a step back in quality, just to have all the bells and whistles

Hopefully the 6.2L will have a much larger bore with less stroke. The 5.4L has over 4" of stroke. That's alot of piston movement. Needs a 4" bore!!!!
