Fuel Mileage.. Wowzer..

I know the 6oh doesn't get the best MPG.. But come on.. Check this out.. These are my last 6 fill ups...

19 Jan 07 - 26.736 Gallons - Trip 328.4 Miles - 12.28 MPG

24 Jan 07 - 25.011 Gallons - Trip 370.1 Miles - 14.80 MPG

3 Feb 07 - 22.619 Gallons - Trip 354.8 Miles - 15.69 MPG

(Service, MAP Hose Clogged, Trans Recalibrated, Yoke Greased, New Flash put in - 30 sec Injector flush flash)

7 Feb 07 - 25.429 Gallons - Trip 328.8 Miles - 12.93 MPG (DK Gray 32oz/ALL OF IT!)

10 Feb 07 - 25.439 Gallons - Trip 343.2 Miles - 13.49 MPG (DK Gray 32oz/Half put in)

15 Feb 07 - 27.93 Gallons - Trip 373.2 Miles - 13.36 MPG (DK Gray 32oz/Half put in)

----------

Now come on.. There is no way this new flash could kill me like that? I'm stumped.. Tomorrow tho I am putting a 4" Turbo Back (No cat/muffler) exhaust system on and changing the fuel filter..

I'm hoping this is a fluke.. I just don't get how I take it in for service and it goes from 15.6 to 12.9.. That's a big change lol..

Well the lowest you got was 12.28 and that was before the flash ??
Dealer may have had the truck idle alot when they worked on it ??
Your mileage is comming back up.

You averaged 3 tanks before flash at 14.26 mpg
After flash 3 tanks 13.26 mpg
Thats only 1 mpg less

So many people look at one tank mileage and think something is wrong. You need to take an average of at least 3 to 6 tanks of fuel to get a good average. So many things can effect MPG Wind, snow, stop and go travel, idle alot, foam .......

We get 15-16 on my wifes Excursion city and 20-21 Hwy hand calculated with the mods in signature. It got dirt for mileage after all mods till everything got some running time. You might just need a little more drive time??

That is only about a 1MPG difference, how fast do you drive?? DRiving habbits, idle time, making sure the tank is exactlly full yourself every time?? I get fuel sometimes and they never top it off because of the foaming, when i do it myself I can get another gallon and change in the tank, this makes a mathematicall difference.

You say the trans was "recalibrated". What exactly do you mean? Were the shift points changed? Was the speedo recalibrated?

When I use your fuel and mileage numbers added together for the first 3 fillups and then the second three fillups I come up with a difference of 0.9 mpg. That's just too insignificant to draw any conclusions. Did the weather get cooler or warmer? Did you fill the tank to exactly the same level each time?

My 05 F350 KR gets about 14.1 in the city and 19 on the highway with the cruise set but ONLY if I keep the engine below 2K. As soon as I go over, mileage drops to 16 even with the cruise on.

I'm not sure about the trans calibration.. This is what the service dept said... I assume they mean they adjust line pressures, etc.. Dunno..

As for driving style.. I don't let it shift over 2k rpms and normally I drive at 65 all the time.. Been a few days I've had to go 70-75 because I was late..

I dont know.. Guess I was relying too much on that 15 I saw.. With everyone saying mileage went haywire with the new flash.. It made me nervous.. I didn't ask Ford to flash the truck.. Simply because it ran fine before.. Sorta.. I guess it was a process of elimination because it went in for lack of power.. Which they said was the MAP Hose being clogged.. Ended up flashing it as well.. So..

I'm going to keep an eye and keep tracking it. So far I will just wait and see

Just like in my other posts...

Since I got the flush injector flash, Yesterday was the first real fillup that I'll site as a good reference.

17.4mpg on my normal commute back and forth to work and shuttling the boys around to sporting events. So that's a majority of rural roads with some town driving.

Right on par with what my log book shows for the life that I've had my truck.

The latest flash, in my case, is not a deciding factor in any sort of fuel economy differences that some are trying to blame on it. Sorry, I don't see it.

Those of you with automatics- Is there something to the transmission 'learning process' that may lead to a difference in fuel economy initially after any new PCM program is flashed?

See and that pisses me off.. I know if I lift mine and put 35's on it.. I'll drop from 13 to like 10.. I have this gut feeling.. But folks like you a-rod, have your lift and your 35s and you have a good mpg based on your lift etc.. Just like my buddy TNT, his 7.3 with 4" Lift and 35s gets about 13-16..

I dunno.. Maybe it'll come together soon and show me a solid steady mpg and not all over the place.. I truly want to slap this 4" lift and 35s on it
