i recently purchased a 1987 ford f250 4x4 with 6.9, i would like to put headers on it but havn't had any luck finding any. any idea where to find a set?
www.stans-headers.com. Look for them in stock headers, ford, p/n 269. contact numbers on web site. Expensive, had to fabricate crossover pipe to Y and then used a 94-97 PS 4 inch exhaust. with ram air I have power to spare, really happy with the set up. (not as expensive or complicated as a turbo, not as much power or head gasket or oil leak problems as comes with a turbo but was worth the expense IMO).
With an empty truck it almost always dropped into 3rd going up hill from 4 th on the highway I tend to drive once in a while, the last time after I added the headers and 4 inch exhaust, it stayed in 4 th unless I kicked it down to pass. Overall milage I dont think has changed much, however most of my driving is in town, highway though worked out around 21-22 mpg (imperial). Ram air intake, headers and 4 inch exhaust, definately more jam, pick up and power. I did a rough 1/4 mile check and I figure I've gained 35-40 HP over stock.
