New Brakes are GREAT!... But Needle bearing maintenance, Help please

I was having the typical "warped brake syndrome", so I decided to go with the Cryo slotted rotors from Advanced Brake Technology. I have 62,000 miles so decided to do the needle bearing service and auto hub service while I had things apart. Everything was very straight forward, got it all back together no problem. Blead all the old brown brake fluid out and drove around and followed the procedures for "bedding" the pads. Brakes are awesome, really happy, but I have a vacuum leak in the hub and my ESOF is not engaging. I don't know what I could have done different. When you put the new "O" ring in and slide the hub back in and tighten the 4 nuts to seat the hub there is really only one way it can go in. I noticed when I disassembled the hub, there was alot of bearing grease where the hub meets the axle housing, but in following Guzzle's pics there was no mention of using bearing grease anywhere but the needle bearings. Maybe I need to take it apart again and grease it up better? I'm going to get a vacuum gauge tonight and test each side. I don't think I have any choice but to disassemble again, will I need new yellow "O" rings again? Give me some help guys, I'm taking a trip soon and need to get this to work.

That bearing grease between the bearing and the spindle is good, as long as the bearing is in good shape. I wish mine was like that when i took mine apart, but mine was was shot and shot the spindle. You lucky!

yeah John I've heard those stories and that's why I decided to do the maintenance. Sorry yours were blown. Well I bought a vacuum guage today and I'll see what I can figure out with that. I wish I understood how the vacuum system works better.

Did u check the lines going to the hub? On mine when it had the ESOF one of the lines where cracked and wouldn't engage the hub. I didnt even see it until i did Ball joints and i went to take it off and it just fell off. I now have MM lock out, much better IMO.

I don't care about the ESOF so much. I don't mind manually locking the hubs. Its the air vent doors not closing that I want to fix. With the vacuum leak the AC only blows through the defrost vents.

Can you pinch the hose for the ESOF to keep the vacuum. The ESOF wouldn't work on that wheel but the vents should work then.

I'll do that if I have to Ponch, but I don't mind taking it apart and trying again. I just don't know if it is the hub o ring or the auto hub o ring because I don't know how the system works.

To get your vent working for now block the line at the tee coming from the vacuun reservoir that goes to the hub lock vacuum solenoid. The other line at the tee is the one that goes to your HVAC.

These are behind the battery on the pass side fo the engine compartment.

I bought a vacuum guage last night and hooked it up to each hub vacuum line and pulled to 20 in-Hg as it states in the manual. Each side held the 20 in for several minutes, so I knew it wasn't the o rings leaking. I started the truck up put it in 4wd and everything works perfectly. AC vents are fine also. I think the vacuum test may not only verify the o rings seating properly, it may also engage the rubber diaphram in the auto hub in to the correct seating position. Anyway, it all seems to be working correctly now, thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'm all happy, new brakes, and needle bearings are good for another 60,000 miles. Next up, I have to track down a small oil leak.
