The "no plastic parts thing" has nothing to do with the Nitrogen purge. I'm working with the local FPD and the State Fire Marshall on the new ranch plant. It will have a capacity of 100,000 gallons per year, and SAFETY was our first concern. If it melts it's not in the plant.................The Nitrogen is used as a "blanket" inside all tanks, eliminating the Oxygen for combustion, and preventing Oxidation of the Biodiesel.

Fabman,
Where are you getting your magnesol. I just finished welding up the fittings on my vacuum tank and ordered my filters, now I'm looking around for the magnesol. Fryer power has it but that seems pretty expensive or is that pretty much the going price.

Pump mixing Magnesol is not recommended, use a paint mixer in a 1/2" drill motor. Passing air through your biodiesel is not a good idea either, it has the potential to oxidize your fuel.

Pulling it out of the air. That’s the cheapest way to get it.

Don't fret too much. I boil the methanol out, let it sit for two days, boil it again, let it sit, filter COLD (to remove any soap the is hard when cold) and I haven't had any problems. I didn't want to use magnesol since I use pump mixing, but I should be finished with my mechanical mixer today, all I lack is getting it wired and making a belt fit.

Is water wash the same step, just a different process?

Magnesol replaces water washimg. It reduces risk of making soap to nil and produces a better end product.

when running your magnasol, why dont you simply make a magnasol filter, and filter the diesel through there with a pump?
It will not be pumping the magnasol, so it wont break appart, and if you use a small micro filter, you will be filtering out some left over impurities in the bio.

I would think, x hours through the filtering process will have the same effect as a mix for it.

I can think of a few different ways to set up the filtering system, and in the end you dont have to strain out them magnesol, you just leave it in the filter, or filter container.

If this woudlnt' work, why?
