That's true!!!!! I did play with some washers before I gave up and bought a flexplate. I almost swear I heard an ever so slight improvement with one washer on the top bolt. Maybe that will finish it perfectly now that I am this far, and it'll sound right. I have had so many ford trucks in the past, this one just doesn't sound quite right. I also tried other combos too but they made it worse. Thanks again. I'll try it tomorrow if work doesn't wear me slick.
Friend I wouldn't trade my 65 for anything. I'll try to out run anything with that old truck. I may be losing, but you can bet I'm on your a**!!!!!!!! Had a guy in a Dodge little red express truck try me on through downtown leavenworth one afternoon. He soon found out that his built 360 wasn't quite what he thought it was. Next light he wants to know what's in my truck. 352. He said- watch out your gonna float the valves on that old FE! I told him that's ok, I learned how to work on FE motors as a kid, I can fix it-I just didn't want to get beat by a dodge. He didn't find this as funny as I did though. I sure was proud of that truck that day, and truth be told, I probably shouldn't have pushed it that hard. But I won!!!!!!!!
I actually found a 10 tooth bendix locally. The diameter of the gear measures 1.096" or somethin close, whereas the 9 tooth measures exactly 1.000" in diameter. I hope this cures it cause I don't know what else to do.
