Read a Cool Article on the 1988 EFI351 Bronco

I read a 4WOR roadtest article of the then new EFI version of the 351 in a Bronco. The model they used was a Eddie Bauer. The EFI351 was rated in '88 at 210@3,800rpm, 315 lb./ft. of torque@2,800rpm. They dynoed it to see how much power was getting to the rear wheels :142@3,500rpm , and 231 lb./ft. of torque from 2,500-3,000rpm. Remember, this was early on in EFI302& EFI351 engine development, so the aftermarket performance parts market was non-existent for these engines, but today....that's a whole other story! They ran it through the 1/4 in 18.01 seconds@ 74.13 mph.My Dad's stock,1994 roller-cammed EFI351 Bronco did it in 17.28@77 mph.So you can see,the 351 was improved over the years.I often wondered what type of performance numbers that EFI351-powered Bronco would've turned, given performance mods like headers, dual exhaust,a blower, larger throttle body,a "chip",and swapping out the stock 3.55:1 gears for 4.10:1 gears.:7
