tranny troubles

Anyone have any problems with their automatic tranny? mine is 05 Lariat with 24000 miles and today the tranny does not want to go into 3rd it starts out ok then out of 1st into 2nd is good and then when coming out of 2nd gear the engine just revs and the truck goes nowhere unless I take it out of overdrive or drop it into 2nd on the shifter on the console.Any ideas??

clutchpacks. take it to dealer tsb on it.

My 05 Lariat is having tranny issues too and I got 23k on mine

you would'nt happen to know the tsb # would you? I am having trouble finding it about my problem which is shifting fine from 1-2 then totally neutraling out ..thanks.

a little different troubles i had with my 05 crewcab is the rear tranny seal was leaking. good thing i only had 34k on it so it was under warranty.

my bad zekeman, the tsb i had in mind was listed as 06-8-2, but that's for rogh shift from first to second. my apologies.

Being new to these 4 speed automatics.. I am VERY Tempted to purchase the Ford Extended warranty just in case the Tranny happens to crap out by 100,000. Personally the Verdict is still out on the Reliability of these Trannies... They sure aren't a C-6 that is for sure!

Rather spend $2,300 now and $100 later instead of $3000 or so later

Well I guess I am just a bit skeptical as this is the first BRAND New vehicle I have ever owned.. I have always owned used and done 90% of the maintenance myself... So I guess the reason for the extended warranty is if any of the Major Items (engine/trans/xfer) go it will be less expensive.. who knows/.....

Dealer rebuilt my tranny under warranty replaced a ton of parts and said he is seeing more of this problem than before..took it home and now the E-brake is stuck and burning up just took it back again says it another common problem with these trucks....one way to look at it is to get the extended warranty if you really love the truck enough to keep it past the factory bumper to bumper!!!!!!!!!!

Update..... E-brake being stuck heated up so much it destroyed rear axle seal and brake pads,also rotor warped..

Zeke just had my tranny replaced 2 weeks ago, due to same problem as yours. 1-2 were fine then I'd jump straight to OD. When they finished I had 2 sheets for the parts list, basically everything in the case....Guess I should watch the rear brakes now....Wonder if mine was built on a Friday..maybe even a Monday...
