Replacing 1993 Ranger Driver Seat Belt
My beloved '93 Ranger Extended Cab 4x4 driver seat belt buckle is wearing out. It rarely catches when I try to secure the belt before driving. I want to replace the short belt and buckle with a new one for my safety. I crawled in back and saw that the drivers seat belt is attached to the frame of the drivers seat (60/40 style) with a 50 torx and large nut. So I got my 90° torx and tried to loosen the bolt. Yea right. Being a 135 lb female was no contest for the bolt. I even tried standing on the torx wrench. (I am assuming it is right hand thread.)
I had read that some manufacturers will warrant seat belts for the life of the vehicle. Does Ford do this? I've stopped trying to get the bolt loosened because I am scared to strip the torx head. I have an industrial sewing machine, so I can swap buckles one the seat belt is free from the sturdy bolt! Any suggestions or instructions would be greatly appreciated.
Take care,
Sandy

So the seat belt is attached to one of the four bolts holding the driver's seat down? Sorry...trying to build a mental image, in my regular cab, the belts have their own bolts.
That being said, both the seat bolts and seat belt bolts came out fairly easily on my truck. I would suggest spraying a penetrating lubricant of some sort in the bolt to try and remove it.
As for the lifetime warranty on the belts, I'm not positive, but you may have called that one correctly. I'll leave that to one of the more experienced guys on here.
The only experience I have had with belts has been at a Chevrolet dealership...I had one of the tech guys looking at a Cavalier a friend of mine owned, the tech saw a seat belt which was slightly cut and ripping, he went inside to look up a part number for us, came back and gave us a seat belt as well, said the dealership covered it. That being said, he said the dealership covered it, not Chevrolet, so it may be the same with Ford on a dealer by dealer basis.
