If you don't yet feel comfortable learning about how the computer controls various vehicle systems & how it can provide time & money saving trouble shooting clues, by providing us with live sensor feeds, or trouble code clues, via the ELM scan tool, then by all means take it to a pro.
We were all once mostly clueless & maybe a little intimidated about computer control of our vehicles, but it's really a quiet simple system overall.
Think of the computer as the brain, the sensors as it's nerves, actuators it sends control signals to do something, like a fuel injector to squirt, or the cruise control to mash the gas pedal to keep the set speed, as its fingers & we can see its sorta modeled after how we humans operate. The programming it uses to operate, is like a language & the ELM & its diagnostic software is the interpreter, putting up words or numbers on our viewing device for us to view how things are going. If we look up what the PID numbers Should be, or what the trouble code Numbers mean, we can determine if we have, or are about to have problems.
When we get into it a little, we find its not too complicated & can be kinda interesting.
Have you entered your VIN# on the Mazda website & scanned the ABS parts tree breakdown for the speed sensor & retaining bolt part numbers, or just stopped by your local Dealer & ask their parts guru about the parts you need?

2000 Ranger new 4R44E automatic trans no reverse
I took the truck off-roading and got a lot of water in the engine and hydro locked it. So I replaced the engine and trans at the same time. I put a new rebuilt transmission in and it shifts into all gears but no reverse. When shifting into reverse I feel it shift but does nothing when I give it gas. It’s the 4r44e automatic. The neutral safety switch is new. Not sure where else to look.

See post 1031 above & use your ELM scan tool & running FORScan diagnostic software that's tweaked for Fords, on the viewing device of your choice described in the posted ELM thread link, as it can scan all of the vehicle computer/controllers for trouble code clues that can focus a trouble shoot, then post All code Numbers.

1997 Ford explorer 5.0 V8 awd
[QUOTE=fordboy_52;4470096]I am making a sticky for the numerous people with transmission problems. If you own a ranger or explorer you might be experiencing numerous shifting problems. If you would feel free to post here so we can have a running record of problems and multiple people who can assure that we have a correct fix.
I also have a tutorial available for the infamous " valve body " gasket. click the following link
https://www.ford-trucks.com/article/...dy_Gasket.html
Thanks
Matt[. I have a 97 Ford explorer V8 awd and it shifts fine from 1st into 2nd but I can't get it to shift past 2nd it doesn't slip when I power brake it in any gear it just stopped shifting into 3rd gear without any signs of problems what is wrong

No Reverse after rebuilt valve body installed 5R55E
Hi All Hopefully someone can help me out, i have 5r55e 2000 explorer started getting tcc code once a day, no other problems trans was shifting fine, has been serviced regular, so i replaced the solenoid new fluid etc did not fix it. Bought a rebuilt valve body with updated sonnax kit and plate with bonded gaskets all ready fitted, installed it correctly yes torqued with inch pound torque wrench, yes fluid level correct everything done by the book. Now it is totally worse no reverse at all 1st-2nd slip, 2nd-3rd flare, i think it ends up skipping 3 and going to 4, tcc codes, incorrect ratio codes. unplugged trans reverse works. Have read and read everything i can find no luck, attached are the readings on the scanner.
Thanks to everyone in advance, i have had this explorer for a 5-6 years and use it to tow car trailer to pick up vehicles, always serviced the trans.

No replies yet, so will see if I can get things started.
Good idea to have scanned for & posted all codes.
You didn.t say but has the tranny filter been changed too???
Maybe with the converter slip causing 4 gear ratio codes, re-check fluid level - not too high or low, condition not aerated, gauge check pump line pressure & flow volume over time should be 1qt / 15 seconds @ warm idle rpm. Some beginning thoughts for consideration, let us know what you find.

2010 2wd shift problems
Here is whats going on.
2010 Ford Ranger 2wd 2.3 motor 184,000 miles
From starting the truck I cannot move in D or R, but if I put it into drive D1 or drive D2 then I can use R.
Cannot take off in D.
I drive it by starting in D1 or D2 then shifting up to D.
All this works better with overdrive turned off.
Replaced fluid and filter. No metal flakes.
I replaced the output shaft speed sensor and unplugged the negative battery terminal for an hour today because that's the code I had seen.
Still doing the same thing .
Any help is much appreciated.
