That is a sweet find!!! I always thought the 64-65 Falcons looked great. Of course I also liked that they came with that nice little V8, too.
There was a long period of time (in my youth) that my transportation was a series of $100 Falcons. I just drove them until they gave up, leaned it against a tree, and bought another one. I love those things. Mine were all 60-63's
I once traded one that blew a head gasket on the freeway for a tank of gas in my other Falcon.

When I first told the Ol' lady about the car I pulled up several pics of cars from carnut.com. She already wants me to try and find the fancy side mouldings, either the 2 chrome bands with the sargeant stripes or the solid center band with the offset color...lol. I'm just glad I don't have to give up my summer wrenching on a VW.
Now I get to order up a whole new set of catalogs...woohooo (maybe start building a 289 or 302 for the future) For now, this will be her car. She is worried about it being black and us living in the desert. I do have an underdash AC unit that I pulled from a 63 Galaxie 500 a few years ago that would look right at home in this little Falcon.
Ah, new toys

count your blessings, I'm glad she likes it, I brought a 66 mustang home in 1976($1000) for ol lady, and she looked at it and said I HATE MUSTANGS!!! so I kept it for myself, built a 302 and toploader 4spd....now my oldest son has it with many more mods..it must have over 400,000 miles by now..good old Fords

Moulding in center between scallop lines: 1965 Two versions, one only goes through front door, the other extends almost to the end of the quarter panel.
JMO: I'd leave it alone, not too many of the 62A's have survived, most are gone or were used for parts cars for rags and HT's.
1965 Mustang 6 cyl A/C a bolt up operation. Everything interchanges. The evap unit will work from a 61-64 Galaxie, but not the rest of the stuff.
I can decode the VIN from memory..all the above is from memory too. I've owned a few 65 Sprints.
Both the 6 and some V8's will have 13" 4 lug wheels, hard to find chrome wheels for those. But if wheels are 14" 5 lug, it's the same bolt pattern as Mustangs(1965/73), and you can then run the Mustang styled steel wheels.

Bill,
You are amazing! Thanks alot for all the info. I'll have more info (vin, etc) next week and I'll probably want to pick your brain a little bit. The car is about a days drive from me, I'll run a trailer out and pick it up this weekend.
As clean as the car is I don't want to do much to it. Like I said, maybe some baby moons (if the wife ever had to park next to a curb those wire wheel covers would suffer).......lol

I had a 65 4 door with 289 and 3 speed on the column. Also had a 65 Ranchero with straight 6 and 3 speed. I bought them both in New Orleans many years ago and can't believe I let either of them go. I would love for my wife to be driving an old Falcon. I'm Really, Really jealous Bobby. I guess now I have no choice but to find one myself, or restore Michele's 74 Beetle.

A 62A body style is the standard Tudor (as Ford used to spell it), the 62B is the deluxe version. You'll see those body codes on the VIN, located on the door face above the latch.
