Looking into a new truck

i currently have a 1997 F-150 with about 140,000 miles on it. it seems like every other week i am doing repairs. it sits on 35's and a little bit of lift. my problem comes with the 9 miles to a gallon i am getting. i have a had a diesel in the past and drove a new 6.0 liter all summer and fall. I am looking into buying a 7.3 liter in the 15,000-18,000$ range. What is everyone getting fuel mileage in the 7.3 liters... it will be stock for a little bit and i do a lot of highway miles. any particular year suggestions or any other suggestions for that matter.

Talking MPGs

I just purchased a 2000 F250 7.3 w/ 80K miles. Truck is stock. I think. I just checked and i'm getting 17-18 mpgs. That tank was mostly highway miles. My previous truck was a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2 liter gasser. It got about 10mpg. Thank god, i came over to the Dark side. Good luck with purchase.
