2007 F250 rear axle weight rating?
My door sticker has a RAW of 6100, I know that has a lot to do with the tires, I have a heavy slide in camper and was looking at upgrading my tires to 19.5 to handle the weight. Anyway My axle code is 3L with a 3.73 axle ratio, Can anybody tell me how much the 3L can handle? Thanks

6100 pounds, minus the weight of the truck on that axle.
You'll have to figure that out, but let's assume your truck tips the scale at 6000 pounds. Let's also assume that you have a 60/40 weight distribution, meaning 60 percent of the truck's weight is on the front axle. (Pickups do not have anywhere close to a 50/50 weight distribution).
6000*.40= 2400 pounds. Your axle is rated at 6100 pounds, so in this example your maximum load on the axle would be 6100-2400=3700.
That does not mean you can slide in a 3700 pound camper and call it good. That figure takes all weight into account, including passengers, gear, fuel, stray dogs and supplies.
Also, on the door sticker should be a statement that has the maximum loading capacity for the truck, something like
“THE COMBINED WEIGHT OF OCCUPANTS AND CARGO SHOULD NEVER EXCEED XXX kg OR XXX lb.”
That is your max load.
The 3L axle code just means you have a 3.73 Limited Slip differential.

I want to buy some comercial duty rims on tires for my truck. They are from ricksons, because I'm overlaoding the tires on the truck right now. I was told the 6100 RAW was there mostly because of the OEM tires, I was also told that all F-250 have the same rear axle as F-350. Basically right now when I weigh my truck with my slide in camper it weighs 6400 on the rear axle, so am I hurting or overloading what the actual axle can hold. I can overcome the tire issue.

If you look at the table in my gallery the max RAWR is 6100 lbs for the F250. On later superduties the rear axles are different. The coloum on the left is for a SRW F350 and it is 7000 lbs. There are debates as to whether the truck will handle it and wether it is legal if you do a search (I have posted in them and that was what the table was made for). I dont think rims are your issue (at least the only one).

I don't think it's the rims he's concerned about (although it too could be), I think it's about the tires. When you need a better weight rating (tire) they just aren't readily available in non-commercial sizes. Stepping up to a 19.5" wheel will open a whole new range of tires with much greater ratings.
In 2005+ the axles are different.
