XL to XLT Power Window Swap.

Guys, I'm gonna finally do this right. I bought a couple of doors off a wrecked truck. I'm in the process of gutting them. I'm going to swap the internals with my crank doors. There are lots of aftermarket power window options. But I wanted it to look stock, and be able to buy stock parts. Anyway, I'm nervious about the wiring. I've had a couple of people tell me that all our year model trucks are wired for all the way, and just ended the pig tails at the kick panels. So my question is, is that true? If not, who knows what part of the under dash harness I need. I've done alot of crap under my dash but I never remember to look and see. Anyway, tell me what you guys think. And I'm taking pics so if I actually pull this off, I'll give yall a play by play.

i would think its all there! heck ford put the overhead clearance lights pigtail on all trucks on the pass side! i would think that the power window option, being more popular/common, the pigtail would be there. if ya want me to i will go out and pull the kick panel to see what the bundle of wires look like!

RubberDuck, I can't help you as far as the wiring goes, but I install autoglass for a living and I can tell you "good call" on going with the factory setup. Those aftermarket kits are sh@#! Good luck with the swap.

It depends on the year of the truck. The older trucks did not have the wiring. I've done it without the wiring installed. I didn't hook up the power locks just the windows. It wasn't that hard. Power and ground have to go to the drivers door. From the master switch it goes to the passenger door. If yours does not have the wiring let me know and I will go look at mine for the exact way I did it. It has been a long time and don't remember off hand which wire was which. Do you have the power locks too?

Fishy, that would be awsome. Your the man!

otp, thanks for the heads up.

Trike, that will be a last ditch effort. For a guy like me, it's all or nothing. But I will keep that in mind.

I don't think you need to pull the driverside. I was more concerned about what the plug looked like. Was that connection right behind the kick panel? And as far as the picture quality, it looked pretty damn good to me. Thanks again brother.

Well, I went to the junk yard and got the panels!!!!!!! $50 for both of them. I also got the passenger side wire harness. The drivers side is gonna take more time than I had today. I'm awake on borrowed time, I have to work tonight. 6pm to 6am. I figured it would be easier to get the complete harness out of a truck that's already got the dash removed. From what I can tell, if my truck doesn't have the harness underneith the dash, this is gonna suck. But I will stay the course, and it WILL happen. Fishy, thanks for all your help and all the other guys too. You guys are the best.
