Ford, i think depending on the model of the F-150 the payload can be 3050, in the 07 Broucure its ratted 2990, im sure this is what all there treuck handle with ease, either way its the highest of the trucks. trucks can take a load know how to drive, cant be stopmoing on the gas
let me get this straight. i have a f150 brochure. my truck is 4.6L v8 supercab with gvwr of 6700 lbs. my payload capacity is 1650. would i subtract my payload from gvwr to get approximate weight of my truck? if so, that mean my truck weighs approximately 5050 lbs? man, that seems high. i think it weighs less. i just don't feel like i'm in a 5000 lb. monster. it feels closer to 4200-4400. it's an stx by the way. anybody know better?
Your math should be close but double check the 6700 figure, should be closer to 6950. This is basically GVWR - payload = aprox. curb weight. Your supercab is a heavy ride, probably a good 5400 lbs. This model Ford will always have a payload disadvantage on paper because it's heavier than their competitor's models. Was looking this on several truck models yesterday. In a regular cab/long box configuration, F-150 is @ 200 lbs heavier than the new Toyota and @ 500 lbs heavier than the new Chevy. This extra weight will bias the rated maximum payload (not to mention what it does to your fuel economy). The weight difference is not as much in the extended cab models.
Keep i n mind that these trucks can carry up around 3000lbs, but if you ever get pulled over you will be cited for being overloaded. I'm not telling anyone what they can or cannot carry, but the legal limit is only about 2000lbs. or less. It sucks because I know they can carry more, as I stated in an earlier post, my 1988 F-150 carried 1.9 tons of stones without breaking so they "can" handle the weight!
