Truck died Need Help!

Here's what I got, 02' 121k 7.3l kwik filter 4" exhaust running Superchips tow safe program.

Left the office, come up to stop sign and am letting off the accelerator and hear a knock from under the hood. Make my turn and notice right away something is not right. Noticeble loss of power and the truck is acting like its missing.

I turn into a parking lot to turn around and notice black and grey smoke coming from the exhaust. I stop and am preparing to shut her down, I look over at the pyro and its reading 600 and not dropping like it usually does.

I shut it down and check under the hood expecting to see something wrong but everything looks good. No oil under the truck. so I figure let me crank her up and see what we got. Climb back in turn the key on go to start her and nothing, She won't crank over.

So, thats what I got, Any ideas on where to start?

I should mention that the turbo has been sounding different for the past month, has more of a whine then whistle sound.

Thanks,
Bill

I assume your oil is not low and not wore out. Sounds like your turbo my be gone/going. Pull the intake off and have a look. When is is cool enough to handle, you should be able to freely move the wheel. It will have some play but not much. I can't think of much else that would hold you EGT's that high, Maybe an exhaust restriction, EBPV stuck. Hang on and some of the others will be hear soon.

You said your truck won't crank over, does that mean it won't turn over at all, or just won't start?

Man, it sounds like you have lost something electrical. My first guess would be you alt. has gone south. Does you horn blow, headlights work?

Didn't see any lights or notice anything before this happened. I did check it out today and yes, the horn and lights work.

I did notice today that when I turn the key all the way I hear a clicking noise coming from the PCM and all the gauges sweep to the right and then back to normal positition.

I'm going over in the morning to pull the batteries and have them tested or replaced.
Thanks
Bill

just to be safe, i'd check all the fuses and pull the alternator and have that checked too.

I second that about the fuses. Get your manual out and check every fuse that has anything to do with starting. Rule out fuses, batteries and alternator. If one of those don't prove to be culprit, then your work will begin. Good luck and keep us up to date on you progress.

Go back to stock tune immediately and see what it does. 600* is a bit high but may be electrical. Turbo noises are a bummer but probably not the culprit if it will not start. Batt test is a good idea, nothing to lose especially since the clicking is usually related to poor voltage. We'll take it from there and be sure to post back.

It's bad guy's

Took the Intake off to look at the turbo and found that every blade I can see has a chip out of the blade. Something passed thought the turbo and siezed the motor.

When I turn the key the motor will not turn over. Whats my next move?

Thanks for looking

Don't know if this will help but I had the same symtoms as you. Turned out to be the #8 injector stuck open filling the cylinder with fuel. The motor was hydrolocked so it wouldn't turn over. Everything electrical was fine of course. The poor condition of the turbo may be a coincidence.
