Truck died Need Help!
Here's what I got, 02' 121k 7.3l kwik filter 4" exhaust running Superchips tow safe program.
Left the office, come up to stop sign and am letting off the accelerator and hear a knock from under the hood. Make my turn and notice right away something is not right. Noticeble loss of power and the truck is acting like its missing.
I turn into a parking lot to turn around and notice black and grey smoke coming from the exhaust. I stop and am preparing to shut her down, I look over at the pyro and its reading 600 and not dropping like it usually does.
I shut it down and check under the hood expecting to see something wrong but everything looks good. No oil under the truck. so I figure let me crank her up and see what we got. Climb back in turn the key on go to start her and nothing, She won't crank over.
So, thats what I got, Any ideas on where to start?
I should mention that the turbo has been sounding different for the past month, has more of a whine then whistle sound.
Thanks,
Bill

I assume your oil is not low and not wore out. Sounds like your turbo my be gone/going. Pull the intake off and have a look. When is is cool enough to handle, you should be able to freely move the wheel. It will have some play but not much. I can't think of much else that would hold you EGT's that high, Maybe an exhaust restriction, EBPV stuck. Hang on and some of the others will be hear soon.

Didn't see any lights or notice anything before this happened. I did check it out today and yes, the horn and lights work.
I did notice today that when I turn the key all the way I hear a clicking noise coming from the PCM and all the gauges sweep to the right and then back to normal positition.
I'm going over in the morning to pull the batteries and have them tested or replaced.
Thanks
Bill

Go back to stock tune immediately and see what it does. 600* is a bit high but may be electrical. Turbo noises are a bummer but probably not the culprit if it will not start. Batt test is a good idea, nothing to lose especially since the clicking is usually related to poor voltage. We'll take it from there and be sure to post back.
