I noticed that there is no indicator on the dash when I turn the switch to AWD, but there is when I turn to 4x4hi or low. Is there supposed to be an indicator on the dash?
The terrible location of the switch makes it impossible to see its setting when the gear shift lever is in D. go figure. I can do it by feel, or, bend over and look, but that's not safe if you're driving.

anyone know about this?
Unfortunatly there is no light indicator for 4AWD only 4H and 4L. The front is not actually locked up so you can drive the vehicle in all conditions including dry pavement in 4AWD. In 4H the front end locks in and should only be used for real sever weather, deep snow or mud.
