**** slide-on tow mirrors
I just got my 2005 V-10 X a month ago and it's great being the "king of the road". We call it "the beast". It has the regular heated mirrors with the turn signal, so I ordered some **** slide-on tow mirrors. I can't can them to fit - on the driver side, the **** mirror slides right off even when I have the adjuster screw cranked all the way in. Does anybody use these?
Thanks, Cory

That is nothing new. I tried the **** mirrors on a Expedition I had, and a couple of friends from my fire company had tried them too. We all ended up throwing them in the trash. They are about useless as teats on a boar hog.
They will not stay on well, the mirrors suck, and he vibration was so bad they could not be used.
Do yourself a favor, go buy the OEM heated turn signal telescoping tow mirrors from Ford. As soon as I got my Excursion, it was the very first thing I did, and in the top 3 best things I did.
The Ford mirrors work REALLY good!

fwiw, I had the **** mirrors on my ex-Expedition and they worked great.
No fitment problem, no vibration, no coming loose. But they don't compare to the Excursion factory towing mirrors.
Did try some of the universal rubber band type of mirrors, those things were junk and nothing but problems.

Thanks to all for the feedback. After I posted the original message, I tried the passenger mirror and it fit fine - nice and snug over the factory mirror. I'm wondering if the driver side mirror was missing a part. For those of you that have this mirror (**** part #11901), did the mirror come with more than one of the u-shaped plastic shims that fit between the factory mirror and the slide-on one? It looks like a thicker shim would cure the fitment problem.

Or even better, get the factory tow mirrors and then get the C-BETR convex mirrors. The factory convex mirror is pretty useless, in my opinion, and the C-BETR's are excellent:

For anyone who cares - I finally was able to get in touch with the retailer I bought the **** mirrors from. When I explained the problem to them and told them that the two **** mirrors they sent me were not the same size, they said there is definitely a defect - like maybe the wrong part # is stamped in the driver side mirror. They are sending me a new one. The retailer has been good to work with. I would recommend them: etralier.com.
