Lifted trucks in here

Ok I was wondering how many people here have there truck lifted with stock gears still. How does it run? Does it still have power to get the truck up and going? Also lift your truck, lift, tire size and mods. I am looking at a 2001 F150 with 38's which if I get I will put 35's on. The 38's dont give enough fender tire clearance for me cause I need it to flex.

Your going to want at least 4.56's with 35" tires.

Im running 33" tires with the stock 3.55 gears...and it's nothing but a dog! I plan to upgrade to 4.56's this spring/summer.

Also...running stock gears with larger tires will severely shorten the life of your transmission.

I was going to go with gears its just a matter of time till I get them done. My brother has a 2001 Dodge Dakota with the 4.7L and 35's and you can feel the differance from stock but its not that bad it will still chirp the tire. I wouldnt think a 5.4 will be that big of a turd.

I have a lift, 33" tires with 3.55 gears. It is a 4.6 with a manual tranny. It is different than it was, but not enough to warrant a change at this time. The
manual tranny probably allows me to tailer the transmission gear/rpm's to the situation better than an automatic would.

Yup...the manual transmission has lower gears than the Automatic, so it wont be as noticeable.

i have 35 inch tires on my 01 F150 sc4x4 with a 9 inch lift. I programmed the computer with a hypertech 3 programmer. 1 of the mods i did with it was delayed the shift points 500rpm each shift made a big big difference in the truck. i dont need gears now plus pocket me some money on not getting different gears. plus all the other benefits of the programmer

I dont have a lift and I have 33 inch tires, and stock 3.55's and it seems fine, I dont know if a little lift would make that much of a difference if you keep on smaller tires.

Mine has a small lift, 2 inches and some 33's on my stock 3:55's LS. I did notice a difference from a dead stop and go.

Thanks guys. I didnt think it would be that huge of a differance. First few things I do to all my vehicles is exhaust, cold air intake, and programmer. I will most likely let it go without gears and save up the money so i can put arb lockers in the front and rear when i do the gears.
