We all know Ford will respond...but the point of this thread is this-Ford needs to start leading with regards to hp in gasoline engines. Ford has their stuff together when it comes to diesel and heavy duty trucks...it's becomes quite apparent with this new generation SD truck. The F-150 was a class leader for a while as well...but never a power house. Anyone that's driven the 3V 5.4L will tell you it has grunt, hell, it moves...but when in comparison to some other vehicles on the road, Ford is lagging. We should have had these new engines LAST year, not next year.

^^^ but why put new technology into an "old truck". ford's doing the right thing by waiting for next year.Testing designing perfecting the perfect truck for you and I . and to me that's much better than them trying to rush something to the table that's not ready . which would you rather have here people? a 300 hp truck thats virtually trouble free or a 400 hp truck that cant even make it to the mailbox and back
Think about it from ALL perspectives

That's what I'm saying though...there should have been an introduction of the 6.2L shortly after the introduction of the "new" F-150. If not a whole new engine then there should have been a wider range of power options. Breaking the 300 barrier isn't enough anymore...and Ford should have seen that coming.
I wouldn't consider the current F-150 "old" either...I've been in the new GM trucks, and I would compare the current generation F-150 to those trucks in a heartbeat.

hi all you. I'm sure ford will respond with that boss or hurricane engine to compete against the others, but as always by the time ford introduces this new generation of engines the others will have a more powerfull engines beating emediately ford's new engines . I been a ford loyal since I was 5 years. I cant understand why if Ford has been the best selling truck for the last 30 years why in the @#$%$$#$^% ford is always behind the competition instead of being the leader , even over the japanese.

Dyno figures (RWHP) are from edmunds.com

Most buyers today could care less about HP figures. In fact, many today equate high HP figures to LOW gas mileage. Ford overbuilt the current F150 adding a fully boxed frame. The F150 Screw weighs 6200 pounds.
So for general overall usage, what would most buyers want in a "half ton" truck?
A reliable truck that can do it all.
It's been my observation over the past four years that most of the people complaining about F150's 300HP are 20's and 30 something yuppies. Y'all are buying maybe 10% at best, of all the F150's sold. And y'all are using them for daily drivers...mainly for pleasure. Ford studies all the demographics before building their trucks, and overhyped HP figures are far down the list.
