Well the driver door and mirror are toast, although the mirror itself survived somehow, just kind of fell out. Moral of the story, don’t park across the street from a driveway. Anyways, I’ll take it for an estimate tomorrow, but does anyone have any ideas on what this is going to cost? I'm thinking a grand? This happened to me 2 months ago with my old truck in a parking lot and that cost 3 grand, but there was more damage.

I had this happen a while back on a ranger I used to have - cost me $1200 and that was in the early 90s. I would assume that your new truck would cost more. The mirror alone is around 300. I know that because my dad backed out of his garage and smashed it.

You need to ask for depreciation value as well. In most states, by law, they have to give you that if you ask. Don't just take the cost of the repair, ask for the money that you lose because damage will now show up in a VIN search on this truck.

Is that right? I though diminished value was almost never covered. What if you were at fault? I doubt your ins co. would give you some extra cash as a bonus for wrecking your truck.
