E4OD Problems/Questions

So last night I blew a line going to my tranny cooler. I drove probably a mile or so before I got where im going. The trip was short from my apartment to my girlfriends. You can see a huge trail of fluid down the road from about 100ft of my apartment almost all the way there. It pretty much trickles out to a still solid stream but probably only about an inch wide.

Anyway.... wondering what all I should do. I obviously fixed the line and put new fluid in. However today it was driving terrible. When I accelerate it literaly fights to accelerate. It feels like something is binding/resisting. I have to accelerate much harder to get the truck to accelerate.

Im wondering... did I get too much tranny fluid in? I used Dexron III/Mecron because that was ALL that was available and I needed the truck to haul some stuff this morning.

Or did something detrimental happen? Checks?

Tonight I noticed that the tranny would engage with no noticeable feeling. Normaly there is a little bit of a buck and clunk when the tranny engages into D.

That and I noticed that when accelerating, I would keep RPM's at a constant, but would feel the truck slightly accelerate like I gave it more gas, and then slightly drop out like I let off.

I would like to note that it is currently -1F and -15F with the windchill, and 9mph gusts. I spose this could be a part of it... as almost all of my driving has been for less than 2-3 minutes, the truck doesn't even approach operating temp.

Sounds like there is internal damage. A transmission shop is the best place to get an assessment of how bad.

Yea, the Ford dealership Powertrain manual I have states that the E4OD takes 16 quarts, I'll check agian, but having put the fluid in, running it for awhile then check I assume it had time to settle down.

I'll check tomorrow after warming up.
