98 4.6 swap for a 99 5.4svt supercharged?

Complete Engine, transmission, rearend, wiring harness, fuel pump. I am sure there is more I am forgetting. It is also nice to take the ECU and the cluster so the PATS system would work and you wouldn't have to specially tune your comp.. Look at $10K+ easily So for half that and a 1/50th the time you could slap a supercharger on your 4.6L and be at almost the same HP.
Best bet is to find a wrecked L that some how has all those pieces in good shape for under $10K and swap them all over. Also the '99 L engines had a recall on the intercoolers they sprung leaks fairly easily and had to be upgraded.

damn thats pricy i bet i could do it for atleast half that here in wisconsin. but the thought is really considered. maybe im better geting a reman engine and getting a supercharger for it. i have a 4.6 that has high miles and teh timing got all ****ed up and **** broke inside and bent valves. hate it when timing jumps... i found a cheap lightning motor with a tranny going cheap with 79k miles and thought it might be worth droping in.

You don't HAVE to do all of that. The 4R70W will bolt right up to the 5.4L Lightning engine, and the EEC will control that 5.4L prefectly fine when it's retuned. The 8.8" rear will handle tons of abuse-they're in many, many high-powered Mustangs without failure,so the Lightning rear really isn't needed.
Now,what you actually HAVE to have:
Complete engine
Fuel system(the lightning uses dual pumps in the tank and a different pump basket in the tank)
All of the intercooler heat exchanger components
and if you want that 4R70W to last-it'll need some upgrades, and a much better torque converter than the stocker.
That's the bare minimum that you need to do the swap.
Now,with that said-I agree with galaxie641. Get a SC kit for your 4.6L,and do the proper fuel upgrades and tuning and you'll have a ton of fun without alot of hassles.

A stock Romeo 4.6L won't hold up to what a 5.4L Windsor Lightning motor will. Which is what the '98 has in it, a Romeo, guys?

And the only difference that the Lightning 5.4L has over a N/A 5.4L are the pistons. The Lightning rods are the same garbage powdered metal toothpicks that the other 5.4L's have. Heads are the same, cams are the same.

I knew about the rods - which lots of people have complained about

Besides that, there's no need in a forged crank-we're talking about a deep-skirt block modular, and I've NEVER seen a crank failure that wasn't caused by stupidity or a failure of other parts. I spin the cast crank in my Tbird to 7000 rpms on a regular basis-and I'm not the only one.
