66 F100 SEFI install
Hi guys,
I haven't been around for a while. Busy with other things, ya know. Christmas holidays, home projects etc.
But, now I'm getting back to the ol' 66. I cut down the trans X-member out of the Lincoln (88 Lincoln Towncar donor) and got it in place but, not bolted yet.
I got the wiring harness out yesterday. Man what a tangle of wires.
I've got to admit it's really daunting at this point.
One question I have is the motor mount bolts. I lost one of the bolts that goes in the block.
Is this a metric bolt? What size is it? It looks like a 7/16-14 but a 7/16 out of the bolt drawer didn't want to go in. And I didn't force it. The original bolt is one of those "tri-roundular" types.
Thanks,
Jeff

I can answer my own question.
I went out and tried a 7/16 bolt in a different hole and it went right in.
Evedently the motor mount on the other side wasn't lined up perfectly causing the
bolt to seem tight.
I got the wiring harness spread out and around the engine compartment and some of the plugs back onto the engine.
That's about it for now.

I tore down a 86 lincoln continential.
you are right about the tangle of wires. that 88 probably had more in it.
i used mine as a donor for an 82 mustang, everything drive related except for the cross member that i got from an 86 5.0 stang. so it ended up with 4 wheel disk, and 5 lug wheels, 5.0 4 speed auto. i just modded the stand x-over for the trans to hold a 3 and 4 speed auto

Upon closer inspection of the Lincoln wiring harness, I found several wires nearly pulled out of the plugs. If it had only been one or two, I might have just fixed them. Plus they are all oily and dirty and nasty.
However, looking around, I found a guy on ebay that sells the harnesses for $200. Main, injector and O2 harnesses. Devoid of unused wires with instructions.
I got them today. They are not new but, they are in great shape. The plugs are all there and he labeled them as to where they are to be wired into the old truck.
Wish me luck!
Come on Saturday, I'm ready.
