I'm gonna fix my current one up but man it's frustrating the problem is all of the fanders were hey connect and espically that front bottom part of the front fenders, there is just way too much 2 or 4 layered metal. Dirt just built up in there and rusted them ll out. The hard part is since there is 2 ayers of metal Urgh.... it's sure a uphill battle.
But it is a 49 Mercury so it is worth it I guess but I don't think I'll have 2 like I was planning on. Urgh.
It's frustrating because rust repair is very hard to do properly and so time consuming.
Also I don`t think there is any repops for this year but try to think of how nice this truck will be when redone.
Well just to warn you Prepp. they are so much fun to do body work on and surprising there are so many aftermarket body panels. One is gonna be nice rather have a pair (that was my original plan take your motoe etc. and I know of a body I could get) but they are simply just too much work, mine I considor average or even above but what rust work there is on a 49 is hard.
Doing rust work on my 68 (for example) is twice as easy and if not, a body panel is most likely readily avaible.
I know your wantin to do up a 49ish Prepp. that's partially the reason why I started this thread, to warn ya.
Oh dont worry bout warning me man I appreciate it, but I dont get scared at all on working on a vehicle that I really want to work on! I have done some jobs that would terrify most guys, but since it was jobs I wanted to do, on the cehicle I wanted to do, I managed to get em done!
I worked on a travelling construction crew so my cursin usually has a sexual comment in it. LOL
But seriously I just came in and about to go back out to work on that front fender piece trying to fabricate a patch, it is not fun but I'm getting closer.
One smal step for Ryen One giant leep to a better nights sleep. And then the rear fenders were they attach to the box at the rear and were all the fendes attach to the rubbibg boards,
Fun fun fun till her daddy takes her T-bird away.
Fun fun fun Till my daddy takes my grinder away.
Yeah stuff like that does get frustrating but just keep trying and going at er and you will get er done think it will pay off in the long run will be a sweet lookin truck im sure....
Shoot that's what I shoulda done I was working construction in Airdrie for about 2 months renovating the Petro Canada by the Super Motel 8. I never asked if I could come see your truck or talk to you Don, oh well. Do you know of the gas station I'm talkin about it's by a Wendy's, Home Hardware,Tim Hortons.
