Putting brake fluid into a power steering pump on the Louisville grain truck by accident! Lifting too heavy objects for sure like concaves in the combine or trying pick up the back of the snowmobile when frozen to the ground.
Getting a friend to grab a pail to catch the oil from the motor when changing it, then finding a huge hole in the pail after coming back from a few beers while the oil drained out of the motor into the bucket and directly on to the shop floor.
A wrk mate of mine filled a S185 with gas. the thing had 110hrs. on it.
Me and my 1970 302 F100 set my dads arm on fire when trying to start it by pouring in gas a little backfire I guess. Seriously my dad had no hair on his arm. In the split secound fire the peanut butter jar that was holding gas is no longer a cylinder shape. More like a deformed triangle.
Filling up a gas Bobcat with diesel when I didnt know any better
I put gas into my diesel Bobcat from a customer`s tank. He always had diesel in it till one year he switched without telling me. We had to drain it, I noticed that it smelled like gas so it wasn`t full but there was still lots to drain.
Another time a nieghbour needed some fuel for his 830 Case, I didn`t bother to ask and put in afew gallons of diesel. When he went to leave his tractor started running poorly, that`s when it hit us about the mixup. I`ve never seen a gas 830 before or since. We had to drain it all and I ended up with 7 gallons of a gas/diesel mix for starting my burning barrel.....
Any gasoline in a diesel engine is real bad news and too much diesel in a gasoline engine can do real harm too.
A very small amount of diesel fuel in a carburated gas engine may help to clean it, just don`t over do it.
When I had my 82. The gas station in Kenaston accidentally filled my one tankl with diesel. They did not charge me for it. So every so often I would switch to it to burn some of it off, It helped cleaned my engine. Eventually I was able to get enough gas in to dilute the diesel. It does help to clen your engine, but you have to change your filters. They get a bit of oil from the diesel and plug up some.
Too much diesel your motor smokes white and can blow your head gaskets. It did this a bit on my 82 and I had to change the gaskets because my engine overheated afterwards. Once done it ran great. I sold the truck for $500.00 It was getting pretty rusty and the rear axle getting sloppy. Motor still going strong. A 302 out of a 72 Maverick.
-forgot to put the filler cap back on
-put drive shafts on out of phase
-forgot to close the drain at the bottom of the rad
I was in a hurry one day changing brake pads, and put them in backwards by accident. Luckily I took one last look before putting wheel on and noticed my mistake.
