Cool

Trailor, I know but they had me over a barrell and they knew it. I was home on leave in New York when the truck broke down, started stalling, etc. I had to get it fixed and get back down to NC before my leave expired. Didn't have time to do the ebay thing. Now I find out it wasn't the instrument cluster anyway! I sent Ford Motor Company an email and this is what the sent me back.....

"Feedback such as yours allows us to examine our practices and policies to ensure that we meet or exceed the expectations of our customers in the future. We regret that you have not had a favorable experience, and appreciate the time you have taken to write us."
I am not very mechanically inclined so I have learned a lot in the last couple of weeks thanks to all the great people on this site. If nothing else maybe someone else might not make the same mistake if they read this thread! The kicker is, I called another dealership in upstate NY and I found out they over charged me too. $50.00 for the cluster and an extra hour for labor. The dealerships are less than 30 miles apart! Might be the cost of paying this idiot overtime!

Being a dealer tech I am appalled but I have seen other vehicles brought in to our dealership that had been serviced in NY and all of them seem to have similar stories about outrageous prices and poor service. Im sure that there are good ones up there too, just like there are bad ones in the midwest.

Unfortunately I cant answer for all of them, only my own personal integrity.

ah im sorry, didnt realize how short of a time schedule u had, that really blows man! i brought my truck in to get a few things checked up on to the dealership by my apt. and i asked them about fixing the odometer (it was fading in and out) and they said it would cost 450 bucks! i basically said f- that and fixing it myself... 450 bucks for a new freakin gauge cluster when all i had was a bad soldering joint! i fixed it myself in approx 10-15 min!
