1960 F100 w/223ci I-6 Battery

Hello Everyone, I'm new to the board and I have a question about this old rusty 1960 F100. It has a 223 Inline-6 motor which was rebuilt fairly recently, but not recent enough to know if it runs. My question is simple. I need to get a battery to get it to turn over, but I'm not certain if it takes a 6v or 12v. The owner told me it takes a 6v, but after searching around on these forums, I've found many posts talking about 1960 and earlier F100s that are 12v. I'm not sure if these trucks had a conversion, or if the owner just didn't know what he's talking about.

So is a 6v or 12v electrical system?

Thanks in advance
-Mike

Ford changed to 12 volt in 1956, so yours will be 12 Volt.

Welcome to the board, you have managed to stumble into one of the most informative sites on the internet (filled with only the best looking, and brightest folks around of course)

Tell us a bit about your truck. history, future plans, etc. are you going for a full on factory perfect resto, functional daily driver, something to tinker with, slightly modified, full blown darkside, mega-throwdown-tripple dog dare ya-huge engined-slammed-exoctic suspension-way too much chrome to look at on a sunny day-custom wonder? We like it all here.

When you get settled in take a few minutes (or sometimes longer) and set up a gallery. We love pics around here and its always fun to check out what the other guy has.

Good luck
Bobby
