I just recently purchased a 97' f-250 supercab 4x4 diesel, and I am new to the diesel world. I have had f-trucks for 15 years from models ranging from 1980-2004 but they were all gas. Were can I find a good diesel manual for my truck since now I need to know how to service a diesel. My second question is what by experience is the best power chip system for my truck and what other add-ons are recomended to be used with a chip?

You are already at the best place for a manual. I have a haynes and this site has more info than the book does.
I have had a programmer (superchips 1700) and now I have a TS Performance chip which just blows away the programmer.
If you get a chip I would get gauges, egt, boost, trans. if you have auto.
Intake, Tymar like.
At least a 4" exhaust behind a 3" down pipe.

Cuda_Jim has some downloadable manuals in his signature. You can also buy the CD versions on ebay. If you just have to have paper, Ford has three big ones and a diesel supplement, but they are pricey, about $500 for the set.

 

Thanks guys for the info. I am enjoying my new diesel, though it does take a little bit to get used to from having driven gas trucks for the past 15 years.
