Okay you have a highboy.
There are some Gas tanks available at NPD for some 4x4's.
This listing doesn't differentiate.
Aft Axle (rear) mount
F100-350 73-79 Long WB, rear mount, 19 gal., w/emiss. hole, vent pipe is towards front, repro............................................. .... F-9002-3 99.95
F100-350 73-79 Long WB, rear mount, 19 gal., w/o emiss. hole, vent pipe is towards front, repro............................................. .... F-9002-4 99.95

r u sure u got the right vin for the vehicle u described in ur first post? f14 i thought was a 2wd f-100. i didnt think 77 had a tank behind the seat. is your other tank between the rear framerails? some trucks had factory dual tanks under the box. can u find one of those and make the other tank work?

Only the 1977 Highboys, and F-350 Chassis cabs, if I recall correctly.
One of the reasons the Highboy was dropped during mid 1977 I believe, was to get rid of the in-cab tank.
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety standards #301, was amended, and after January 1977, in cab tanks were no longer allowed.
That vin is definately for a F-150 4x4.
Weird that it has a in cab tank though, Ford stopped putting in cab tanks in half tons, as a rule, back in 1973. Real proud of their new standard tank placement too, according to some of the liturature I have.
Perhaps the truck is a highbrid, or frankentruck? No offence. or a special order?
Very interesting...

no problem none taken...i know the truck was only owned by 2 people before i bought it..and the lady i bought it from did absolutely nothing to it.. sides let it sit and rust away..so your saying the first owner probably did this himself...no wait the cluster has the original switch for 2 tanks where would have the main tank been
o yeah by the way my truck has never left my town..it was bought at our local ford dealer and still has whats left of the dealer sticker

the in cab tank was an option in 77. I had a 77 f150 4x4 with both the in cab and rear tank factory. Badger block does your tuck have the rear tank? You coulds mount a factory style midship tank or you could find a couple aftermarket saddle tanks 77's used a fuel filler door on the side of the truck pre 77 used an indent and gas cap on the side the saddle tanks I have, have got fillers in the wheel well

yeah i have the rear tank...side saddle tank thats what my uncle called it...but where am i going to get one of those.. and he just used the original opening on the cab and then cut down through his floor panels and into the tank...do u think the sending unit in my seat tank would just plug and play with the saddle tank
