I just replaced the head gaskets on my '95 and everything was fine for awhile, then she started leaking. A little at a time....Now as the radiator is about 3/4 full it doestn't leak. Anyone see this B4. I had a 92 F150 that would act the same way....Fill it...leak...after 3/4.. fill, then stop leaking. I don' t get it. Any ideas?
I'm about to tackle a new coolant leak in my van (4liter). I'm going to try to find it the way I did before:
I installed a reverse flushing kit from Prestone into one of the heater hoses. It has a T fitting for attaching a garden hose, and comes with a cap to close it off. I got a brass cap and drilled a hole into it to install a presta tire valve from an old bicycle inner tube. When I install this cap, I can pump up the system with my bicycle pump, and look for the leaks. I just hope my leak is a simple fix.
There may be an easier way to do what XLT4WD90 did. You can get a loan-a-tool from Auto Zone where you take off the radiator cap and replace it with one that lets you pump up the pressure in the cooling system. I've used this to find a pin hole in a radiator hose.
