Looking for help with fuel injected into my '67 Ranchero.

I am looking to put a 1986 fuel injected high output 302 into my Ranchero. I was curious about what is needed for this kind of swap and if the brain box from MSD or Mallory or a similar company would replace the brain that went with the original mustang. Also is it possible to bypass all the sensors on the fuel injected engine and still have it run good. Any additional information about this type of project would be very much appreciated. Thank you all.

Larry,

best bet would be to ask that question in the small block engine forum. Good luck with your project.

A guy has a 67 Ranchero listed on Ebay right now and he has done exactly what you are asking about. He apparently transplanted all of the electronics. You may want to contact him for particulars. You can get a message to him through ebay. Go to the link below, then click on his Ebay ID to send him a message. Good luck.

You will need the computer from the donar car to make the EFI work right, unless you already have the 86 motor, I would recommend going with a 87-93 Mustang setup, they use bigger Throttle bodies, better heads and larger injectors. The cpu in a 86-88 will also be speed density, unless it is a 88 model california car. 89 (88 cal)-93 are mass air. If you plan to run a bigger camshaft you will want the mass air. Mass air vehicles can adjust to changes brought on by cams, better breathing heads and so on. You will want to get all the sensors from the donar car as well as Oxygen sensors (mustangs used 2)
If you have any questions fill free to ask, I will try to answer as best I can

:-staun I also have a 67 Ranchero,289,3speed,etc,stock.All it needs is a tailgate to be complete.Very little rust and fully restorable. Why would you want to put a FI engine in?Totally ruins it!
