The door panels on a Titan are similar to what Toyota, Dodge, GM, even Ford on some models are using.
Some rails in the bed which would be covered up/bent in their aluminum extruded mess?
Take another look. The bed system on a Titan has heavy cast aluminum rails, not extruded ones. The Chevy system is cheap.
Hmmmm... I didn't buy that and apparently not as many ppl elsewhere did either. Tundra sales have actually been down, just like everybody else this past year. They, Toyota had to break out the big rebates also. And quality and reliablity have been the harbingers of the Asian brands quest for customers. The biggest rebate nationwide is $3000.00 on doublecabs.
What happened to that? Honda, Toyota, Nissan have all had recalls and safety notices is quantity and type of the American Big 3 this past year.
Two total recalls on Titan, One for air bag warning light, the other for a plastic shim to protect wiring on the rear L/door of a CC. Brake judder affected 2004 and some 2005 Titans. There was no recall, but Nissan upgraded the entire system in summer 2005, with all new rotors and pads. Nissan also extended the warranty on the brakes.
Meanwhile, Ford F150's have had brake judder issues for years, and all Ford has done is continue replacing one set of bad rotors with another, with no updated parts in sight. Dealers also turn rotors, and anyone with half a brain knows that once warped, rotors will never be true again.
No, Ford has to watch out alright. King of the Hill. Everone gunning for your spot. Everyone wants to be that lucky. But they have to do better than what I'm seeing. Heck, even the Explorer is the number 1 selling SUV still! Not anymore, in fact sales of Explorers tanked last year. the current Explorer sales are the worst since 1991, when it was first introduced. Jeep is now outselling Explorers for the first time since 1993.
I wonder why, could it be that Ford knows how to build and sell a quality truck? Yeah, I know the 6.0 has been a nightmare. It was supposed to be an improvement over the 7.3. But it wasn't because they booboo'd. They were promised one thing by International and sold another. Maybe that's why the are moving to build their own diesel inhouse in the future?

Visit, test drive and study the competition, as I do. I hate defending Japanese based iron on FTE, but as an auto historian and statistician, I dread reading false, misleading and mistaken information.

Besides a couple of F-series commericials, Toyota had more commericials for the Tundra and Tacoma than any other manufacturer. The Tacoma one with the Loch Ness monster was funny, not as good as the Bud lite commericials.

As for commercials, I don't watch much TV, but i did happen to catch the Tundra with Loch Ness Monster. It gave me a chuckle.

Ford has been building cars and trucks in Mexico for over 20 years. The first was the Mercury Tracer. The latest is the Fusion.
Both the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord are built in the US of A. The last time I checked, they were the two top selling passenger cars in the US.
