C6 to ZF Swap

C6 to ZF Swap
Has anyone swapped their C6 for a ZF? I am at the point in my 1985 F150 build up that I need to decide what tranny to use. The only zf I could find is a used one for $600. Will it bolt up to my NP208 T-Case. I know the crossmember needs modified. Are the drive shafts the same length? What needs to be done with the clutch and the internal slave cylinders?

the c6 is a stout transmission i'd keep it unless you just want the overdrive of the stick. you should be able to put the zf in front of the 208 but i can't tell you whether the c6 adapter will work or if you need to find one for the zf. you're driveshafts probably won't work, i'm sure the zf is going to be longer than the c6 but a good driveshaft shop can shorten your rear shaft(a lot cheaper than new one). i would find a parts truck that came with a stick to make sure you get all the brackets for clutch, and slave cylinder. you will also need a flywheel and pressure plate, and pilot bearing for your motor.
another benefit of finding a parts truck for all the little things, the center hump is removable and if you get a factory stick truck you can just swap the hump out rather than trying to figure out where to cut a hole for you shifter.

Hey Masterguns. Give me a call on the number I sent you. Some of the parts, like the flywheel from when your truck had the 4-speed, may be useable. There are several different ZF`s. The diesel ZF has different size bellhousing bolts, different gear ratio and if I remember correctly, different bolt pattern.
