There are jobs, but mostly manufacturing and industrial types.

I am in the process of leaving this area and moving to Appleton Wisconsin, because the high tech industry here ain't worth a hoot.

I rest my case. Toyots and Nissan should pack it up and stop trying to be a Ford F-150.

I bet you would not think that if you ever talked to any of the fine Americans building the trucks that the people in this forum love.

Unions are no longer nessicary to ensure safe working environments (what they were originally formed to do) Now all they ensure is that people get paid the maxium wage for the least work. PERIOD
Yeah, tell that to my co-worker that almost got crushed tonight when a bed fell 30 feet to the ground at the decking station.

No its ok - I know where you are coming from.
I am working on a non-union site at the moment (construction) - I missed a crowbar being dropped about 100ft down on my head by 2 steps today.
Not a thing was done about it. A union site wouldn't even allow us to turn up in such unsafe conditions.

I don't agree with everything a union does - but in pretty much all blue collar jobs where safety is involved they are essential.
And for those that disagree - I personally doubt you have worked in an industry where a minor oversight can mean you leaving work in a timber box.
