odometer comes and goes

Hey, I am new at this so please forgive, I have seen great info here ,HELP.My 2000 expo 5.4 xlt awd 97xxx miles odometer display comes and goes .I purchased this truck a year ago love it ,exept milage, . This problem showed itself within the first 6 months but not very often,now I am lucky to see the display once every time I drive it, any ideas?I know my way around pretty much so I cant stand the idea of paying dealer service prices.Thanks

I just did it a couple weeks ago, works great. You need the magnifying glass, trust me. Go to Radio shack and buy the smallest soldering tip you can find. I did mine with the normal size, but it was a PITA.
