Opinion needed on rims & tires - FAST
I currently have 305/70-16 tires (D rated) on the stock 2002 16x7 4x4 polished alum rims (non lifted) and have an opportunity to purchase a set of stock 275/70-18 (E rated) tires on 18x8 polished alum rims from a 2006 F250 super duty 4x4. Whatever I end up as far as rims go, I will be powdercoating the rims flat black.
I have done some research on this site as well as called the Ford dealer. I have not found anything stating that the offset on the two rims are different, so I believe I am safe there. In addition, I do not think I will have an issue with the tire rubbing.
I understand that the dealer can recalibrate my speedo for the difference (about an hours work @ $90/hr).
I just want to know if anyone is running 275/70-18 with any issues or if I should be concerned.
Thanks for all your assistance!!

You better check that off set deal. The stock Ford off set changed on the rims in 2005 when the F250-350 went to the coil spring front and a brake change. The Ex did not change. I have read that there are problems trying to put the newer factory wheels on the Ex. Check some more before you buy.

Well...I purchased these rims and just for the record, the front tires do rub on the leaf springs at full turn. I believe if the offset were a bit more, I'd be okay. The rims have the following stamped on the inside:
18X8J DOT-T A246A
2 062305 5034-1007-LA
While the stock rims are stamped:
16X7K DOT-T
2 121001 F81A-1007-MA
No offset stated anywhere, unless the "J" and "K" are the code and translate into an offset.
If I ever determine the offset, spacers may be an option....

Well if you could have waited a little longer, their was a Thread about just that. The newer rims offset is for the newer suspension (coil springs), it pulls the tire into the fender well more and it will rub on the leaf spring Ford model trucks......Wish I had seen this sooner, sell em on E-bay......

Missed it by that much....
I just found the offset for the stock X wheels...it is 25
It took me a few hours searching google, however, I found this great site (it may have been pointed out on other threads)
https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas...2/excurscd.pdf
I believe the others that I purchased are 40.
I'll try craigslist first....then ebay......

My 315/75's on stock wheels rub the leafs a little, spacers made them rub in a different place, plus, the stock wheel seats on a raised part of the hub, kinda like a lip.The spacer takes up about half of it,not leaving alot for the wheel to seat on.I'm not comfortable with it,so they're coming off.Tires only rub a little at full lock,so I'll replace the wheels with more offset.Priced some fairly reasonable, about $150 each.
