Good port Fuel Inj kit for the 74 Police Interceptor 460 in my 78 Bronco?
Many years ago i installed a 74 PI 460 motor into a 78 Ford Bronco. It has been my daily driver ever since, having undergone every possible modification, buildup, drivetrains, motor rebuilds. While I have built the motor many times, I have always retained the same 1974 police interceptor block and heads. Since I'm retirement age (retired mechanic) and finding myself traveling more and more long distances, I need to come up with better fuel mileage since I do not ever plan to stop driving my Bronco!! I have tried the Holley ProJection 950, it worked only just ok, I didnt like the tuning capabilities, and the control box ***** kept breaking all the time. It finally caught on fire and burned the Bronco to the ground, but I have since fully restored the truck, rebuilt the 460 once again and running an AFB Carter. The carb runs will but is for **** on fuel mileage compared to any fuel injection truck. So....I am desparately looking for a great port fuel injection system that will bolt right up the my 460 BUT also has a PCM that will allow me a wide range of tables to tune via laptop control. The PCM needs to be the type that I can read/write directly to with my laptop, not have to remove the EEPROM or need a burner. I got one recommendation from a forum member: http://www.howellefi.com/shop/customer/product.php?productid=16212&cat=251&page=1 but dont know anything about the PCM friendliness. I want to be able to install this setup, then go drive and scan parameters using a wide band reference, then write a new tune and download it to the kits PCM, then repeat as necessary until I am happy with my Idle, transients, part throttle and WOT performance.
Any help please!!
Thanks in advance
