78-79 drip rails

Well, I've searched the indexes here + can't find any links to replacing drip rails.
Mine are severly rusted. Removing the rust will result in having no drip rails at all. I've looked closely at the rails + it looks like they were simply (glued?) stuck on?
Can I just grind them off + try to find something to replace them with? Oh, the back window support has the same problem.
Thanks, Firewoodtruck

If your drip rails are in that bad of shape, as well as the back window, I say it is time to look for a new cab.

The rails are actually where the roof panels come together. To cut them off would open the seam holding all those panels together.

Because this is an autobody type job you will find the answers in the autobody forum.

Specific systems forums were created to field questions that relate to a specific topics.

Your topic is bodywork related and would relate to any year truck.

I saw a set of rails on Ebay a few years ago but haven't seen any since (but then again I wasn't looking for them). Your starting to get into alot of body work, if their's any other cab damage I'd start looking for another cab. I've found some good ones for less than $500 Body work adds up a lot quicker than that.

Auto Krafters have drip rails for reg cabs and crew cabs and Dennis Carpenter has those and they now also have them for the SuperCabs

My apologies for a mis-post Mil1ion. I guess I never made it past the 460 engine section, except to look at regional chapters. I also was not aware that searches are topic specific. (hence my mistake.)
+ I even read the "read this post" first, that's why I tried an item search before I posted.
The good news is, thanks to mil1ion, I now know there is a body section here!
Happy Trails,

I'm sure when you do your search in the bodywork section, you'll probably find more information of "shaving" driprails than replacing them. I'm not sure if your into that look or not, but it's another option. Good luck.

No drip rails.

If it was me, I would shave em anyways...looks way cleaner. But probably still need to do some pactching if your cab is that rotted.
