Hard starting f-350

I want to start off by saying I have read through the hard start common mod sticky and I dont see a post that answers my question. I live in Utah and it has been getting pretty cold at night.( 30' down to 0'). If I plug my truck in at night it will start okay, a little white smoke but if figured it has 150k on it so I wasnt worried. If I drive to work and leave it in the parking lot all day and I am lucky if it will start at all. Alot of times it almost kills my batteries from cranking. Batteries test fine. It seemed to be missing also. I switched out the glowplug relay and it didnt change so I figured it was glowplugs. I took it to a reputable diesle shop and they said the glowplugs tested fine. They came up with oil pressure. I went to quik lube and had all of my fluids replaced. Fixed the missing problem and it starts a little easier but not much. I assume when they check my glowplugs, they checked my wires also but you never know. What else could be the cause if it is not glowplugs or the relay? I get enough white smoke to fill the whole front yard and I am worried if i leave it somewhere for the day and it gets cold it will leave me stranded. thanks in advance.

In the location of the Glow Plug Relay, there are two similar looking relays. Which one did you replace? The one towards the windshield, or the one towards the front of the truck? The other one is the Air Intake Heater relay, you might have replaced that on accident.

Did you get the batteries load tested, or did u check them with a multimeter? If you changed the correct relay and the glow plugs tested good then try getting them load tested.

To quote Kwik "White smoke = unburned fuel". It is definately in your GP system. Check your GPR with a voltmeter to make sure it is working. I have heard of bad GPRs out of the box.

I replaced the relay closer to the windshield so I am pretty sure it is the correct one. The batteries I had tested at a local Autozone, so however they test them there is what I did. I think they load test them dont they? They said the charge was a little weak but I didnt think they were to bad. Maybee I was wrong. Thanks guys for the response. I am going to an icefishing derby in a week or two and am afraid of leaving my truck all day in the cold.

Did they test each one individually or where they both hooked up when they tested them? They need to be tested individually.

we tested them idividually. One is new from last year and one was on the truck when I bought it. I would normally replace them both at the same time but one died on me while deer hunting and I had to get a ride to the nearest town to get a new one.
