I have been involved in the total rebuild of an 84 Stepside. Originally was, according to the side of the truck, F-150 XL 5.0. Now sporting a 477 (bored 460) and lots of goodies. The problem is the bed. The fiberglass fenders look like hammered **** and the front part of the bed and floor are hole E terrors. On the bright side, all parts of this bed seem to come apart with nuts and bolts so that fender or replacement panels would be a snap. Where do I find these parts? Also the bed gave the illusion of a wood plank bed however I find that the wood is really one piece of plywood with decorative metal straps running on top of it. Is there a kit for this?

I am about to take a couple more before moving on to scrape and sand. I am keeping a running total as I go as well. The truck as you see it now has a total price tag on it of 9047.32 That includes the purchase price and shipping. I decided to keep up with it so that if I ever decided to get rid of it, I would be able to prove how much of a loss I will be taking, lol.
one other place to look for the fenders would be a junk yeard. I know that you have thought of this already how ever I had a 1981 and often times construction contractors take their boxes off of their F-350s so the fenders are like new. a F-350 fender is an exact match 1980 to 1991 and you may be able to live with a 1992 through 1997. Its worth a look.
Dually fenders are not a exact match,
Stepside fenders mount a the wall on the box which is flat and streight. Dually fenders mount to the stock fleetside bed which has an arc and body line bends.
These stepside fenders are hard to find, and no one makes replacements.
I have an extra set for my '86 stepside just in case of an incident.
You need to find fenders from a stepside, not a dually
